A Canadian immigrant born and raised in Damascus, he brings a rich cultural and legal perspective to his work. He is recognized as British Columbia’s most academically accomplished Muslim and Arab lawyer, the province’s most senior Sunni family lawyer, and the most senior non-white, worker-side labour lawyer in private practice. Long Bio

While pursuing his MSc, Abudi was a student and worker activist, representing U. Western Ontario Graduate students on both Western's Board of Governors and Senate. He was Chief Steward Biological Sciences for the Graduate Teaching Assistants Union at Western, PSAC 610, and successfully led an organizing drive unionizing postdocs at Western.  His experience as a student activist led him to change careers from science to law. After graduating from UVic Law, Abudi worked for the Public Service Alliance of Canada from 2012-2023, representing PSAC and its members at over 200 labour board and labour arbitrations as sole counsel in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut from the BC PSAC Vancouver Office. Abudi has litigated matters under BC's Labour Relations Code, Canada Labour Code, Federal Public Sector Labour Relations Act, BC's Human Rights Code, Canadian Human Rights Act, and other provincial and territorial labour and human rights legislation. While working for PSAC, he lived in Yellowknife, NWT, for almost a year, gaining a greater understanding of the difficulties faced by Indigenous Peoples and people living in isolated and remote communities. He also worked as a decision maker for WorkSafeBC for 6 months, issuing Prohibited Action Complaint decisions.

After completing his LLM in Dispute Resolution, and seeking a new challenge in life,  Abudi Awaysheh Law Corporation was incorporated in 2024, where he practices family law, representing clients with issues related to family assets, parenting time, child support and spousal support. He also acts as an independent mediator, assisting Arabic-speaking parties and those who identify as Muslims in resolving their marital disputes. Abudi is BC's most senior non-white worker-side labour lawyer in private practice and represents unionized and nonunionized employees who have been sexually assaulted in the workplace. He also conducts workplace investigations and training at non-unionized workplaces.

Abudi provides legal services in English and Arabic, and can issue notarized translations under the BC Authentication Program for matters requiring Hague/Apostille Convention certification. Having lived in both Canada and Syria as a child, and as the only Muslim, Arab, and immigrant in his graduating class at UVic Law, offers him a unique perspective on colonization, discrimination, and self-entitlement. Abudi has firsthand experience with the challenges faced by less privileged groups like himself. Abudi's mother is Damascene, and his father is from the Awaysheh Clan of Al-Salt, Jordan. He lives in Vancouver with his wife Amanda, daughter Elizabeth Aysha, and his 2 cats: Poofy and Milo.
